Exporting requirements
Purpose
To export system requirements in four different file formats. This is so that you can import them into a different knowledge model, or use them to create a requirements document.
Theory
This exercise teaches you how to export system requirements in one of the following formats:
- Conceptual graph (.cg)
- Comma separated values (.csv)
- Tab delimited file (.txt)
- MS Word document (.docx)
In this exercise, you will export the system requirements in conceptual graph format, which you will then import into a new knowledge model in the next exercise. Additionally, you will export the system requirements as an MS Word document, which can be used as a requirements document.
You can export system requirements in the other two file formats in exactly the same way.
| Note You will need MS Word 2003 or higher to open the exported system requirements file, which is in DOCX format. |
Actions
To export system requirements:
- Open the Schengen Without Behaviour knowledge model.
- Select Requirements Manager from the View menu.
The Requirements Manager screen is displayed on top of the Conclusion & Justification screen and you can alternate between the two using the Windows Taskbar. - Select Export As > Export CG from the File menu.

- Click on the Save In drop-down list and select the drive where the Erudine Behaviour Engine is installed.
- Navigate to the Training\Introduction folder in the Erudine root directory.
- Enter Requirements in the File Name box and click the Save button.
You have now created a file containing the system requirements in conceptual graph format. In the next exercise, you will import this file into a new knowledge model. - In the Requirements Manager screen, select Export As > Export Word Doc from the File menu.
- Navigate to the Training\Introduction folder in the Erudine root directory.
- Enter Schengen in the File Name box and click Save.
You have now created a file containing the system requirements in MS Word format. - Open My Computer and navigate to the Training\Introduction folder in the Erudine root directory, to confirm that you have successfully created the Requirements.cg and Schengen.docx files.
- Double click on the Schengen.docx file.
The file opens in a Word document, which can be used as a requirements document. - Close the knowledge model without saving changes.
