Installing on to a Unix / Linux environment

You can install the Erudine Behaviour Engine on to a Solaris 10 Release 11/06, SuSE 9 Enterprise v10.2 or Fedora Core 6 environment.

If you have already attempted to install the Erudine Behaviour Engine without root privileges then you must remove the files that were created as a result of this failed installation before attempting to install again. To remove redundant installation folders enter: rm -Rf /opt/erudine, then enter rm -Rf /var/erudine and finally enter rm -Rf /bin/starterudine.sh.

To install the Erudine Behaviour Engine:

1. Place the CD/USB stick into your machine.
2. Locate the erudine.tar.gz file.
3. Unzip and extract the erudine.tar.gz file using the following command:
tar -zxvf erudine.tar.gz.
4. If you do not have administration privileges then switch user, using the following command: su -.
5. Enter your root password.
6. Run the installation script by typing the following text at the prompt: sh/install.sh.

The Erudine Behaviour Engine will be saved in the following location: /opt/erudine
and a symbolic link (startErudine.sh) will be placed in the /bin directory pointing to
the /opt/erudine/startErudine.sh file. Any other files associated with Erudine will
be saved in the /var/erudine folder.

7. Start the Erudine Behaviour Engine, by typing startErudine.sh at the command prompt, which will begin the licensing process. The Licence Request screen is displayed.
8. Enter your Company Name and Contact Name into the boxes.
9. Click the Send Email button. An email is automatically containing the details you just entered.
10. Send the email to Erudine, so that a valid licence key can be sent to you.
11. You will receive an email from licence@erudine.com containing a valid licence.
Note: If you send your email within office hours, you can expect a reply within 1 hour.
12. Copy and paste the licence key from the email into the Licence Request screen,
using CTRL + C and CTRL + V.
13. Click the Load Licence button.
14. Click OK at the confirmation message.
15. Click OK at the next message, which confirms that you have a valid licence.
16. You are now ready to start the Erudine Behaviour Engine again, using startErudine.sh.

Notice that this time, the Licence Request screen is no longer displayed and you are launched directly into the Engine. This is because it successfully found and loaded a valid licence.
