Loading licences
Purpose
To load a valid licence, in order to run the Erudine Behaviour Engine.
Theory
Once you have installed the Erudine Behaviour Engine, you will need a valid licence file (license.lic) to be able to start the Engine. The licence details are contained within the license.lic file and the server.NaCl file. The licence files must be saved in the correct location so that it can be found and validated by the Erudine Behaviour Engine. The licensing requirements may differ depending upon the environment on which you have installed the Erudine Behaviour Engine.
The contents of the licence file are referred to as the licence key.
If this licence file is missing, you will be prompted to apply for a new licence by emailing a Licence Request to Erudine. Once you have been sent a licence file (a text file containing a licence key), you must copy and paste it into the relevant section of the Licence screen. You will then be able to run the Erudine Behaviour Engine successfully, and will not be prompted to apply for a new licence until your current licence expires. See Renewing licences for details.
In this exercise, you will move the existing licence file from your machine to another location. This is to simulate a situation where no licence exists. You will then request a new licence key, load it on to your machine and run the Erudine Behaviour Engine.
The process of requesting a new licence key and loading it is the last part of the installation process, which is described in [int:Installing on to a Microsoft Windows environment] and Installing on a Unix or Linux environment.
