Viewing log files

Purpose

To view the log files generated by the Erudine Behaviour Engine.

Theory

If you have not modified the log4j.xml file, then the default filename is erudine.log and the default location is:

• For Windows, C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Erudine\Server\logs .
  
• For Unix, Root/erudine/Server/logs .
  For details, see Configuring log files.
  

In this exercise, you will locate the log files for the Erudine Behaviour Engine and open them in a text editor.

Actions

To view the log files:

1. Open My Computer.
   
   
2. Navigate to the following location to locate the erudine.log file(s):
   
   C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\erudine\Server\logs
   If you cannot find the log file(s) in this location, then you should view the log4j.xml file, to see where they are being saved. For details on how to do this, see Configuring log files.
   
   
3. Open the erudine.log.1 file in a text editor, such as MS Notepad.
