How long does legacy capture take?
Question;
How long does legacy capture take?
Answer;
The timescales involved depend entirely on the size of the legacy system in question. Legacy elimination is an automated process and timescales to rebuild legacy systems are at least twice as fast as replacing a legacy system using traditional IT processes.
Generally speaking, the main obstacle to rebuilding a legacy system is getting domain expertise from a high level business perspective. This is needed in order to identify why the legacy system processes information in the way that it does. As an example, in a banking system this could include defining why one cheque is rejected, whereas another is authorised and cashed.
Once these decisions have been taken, there is nothing preventing the automated legacy elimination processes from operating fast and effectively.
